Wednesday Wednesday

AaahhhaaaaaahAhAHAhhhhhh.  So good to meeeeee.

So I slept terrible last night.  So, having for the last time randomly awoken at 5:33, I decided to go ahead and get up.  (Actually, I probably would have tried to go back to sleep if I hadn't seen I had a text from Kara Wilson!  I had to focus my eyes on the itty-bitty font, and then the sleepiness was gone.)  I went out and ran for the first time in....roughly three weeks.  My pace was a bit fast to start out with so I only made it to Edens, and then back to Fairhaven before my engine quit.  I was making great time though...I will make better time tomorrow.

Let me tell you.  It is just a good feeling being up in the morning and having.  Done something good.  I Rose and Sang alright.

Uxorious? Me?  Never.

Maxim, Aphorism, Axiom.  Yay for words.

So Professor Wise has some...misguided ideas about Noam Chomsky I think.  To me Chomsky is in no way Cartesian.  Like.  There is so much real empirical evidence for universal grammar at this point...beyond that, I don't even see Chomsky as someone who it's useful to classify as Cartesian or an empiricist.  He's really...really he seems like a scientist to me.  Not a philosopher. (at least as far as language and rhetoric is concerned) I don't see him drawing from Plato or Descartes, or David Hume, or anyone.  He just.  Doesn't speak to them...and he's hardly an "anomaly" in linguistics as he was called today.  But.  Maybe I shouldn't really be running my mouth about this stuff.  "WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT IT? NOTHING!"

GC is tonight! Yay!  It is Asian cuisine night.  So.  Naturally.  We are bringing...green tea? in a bottle.  Yes.

I rode the bus home with Nathan Simunds today.  I actually passed him on the way to the bust stop out of bond hall.  I cut our conversation short saying I had to catch the bus.  Well. 15 minutes later we wound up on the same bus.  Thankfully it was not very awkward.  Nate is a crazy smart, crazy cool (engaged to be married), awesome dude from Core.  He also lives next door.  I guess he interviewed for an internship at...a company that starts with an R that does insurance projections (like the Jim in Away We Go! or Ben Stiller in Along Came Polly? I think.  He says it's really exciting work for him.  Really competitive but ample opportunity for advancement, lifting yourself up with your own shoulders, once you're in.  It's cool to see a guy's life start to materialize around him.  He graduates this spring, got engaged over Christmas break, and now has the opportunity for real work.  Awesome.

In 309 we got to look at sculptures of some hermaphrodites.  Now that was fun right?  I also was told that Nathaniel Hawthorne and Herman Melville were gay for each other apparently.  I really would prefer to just read their work and.  Draw what I can from it.  I could care less for this "historical" background.  It seems like that's all that class actually is.  I don't know.  Literature and culture go hand in hand I suppose (yes.).  But.  I'd like a little more focus on the text I think...

I got a 10/10 on my quiz in 309 though.  I offered some comments in class.  Those comments were received positively.  So yay me right?

A lot of this seemed to wind up a little bit...rantish today.  Potentially ignorant rantish also.  Nothing worse than that.  I'm so sorry to all of you smart people who read this.

Lodrick, Jake, and Matt (maybe not so much Jake?) Continue to be unable to channel out the bump bump thud coming from upstairs.  I dunno.  If it's a steady, regular noise, lacking language and melodiousness, I can usually be productive along side it really well.  It perhaps even helps sometimes.  Drowns out the echo in my skull.

I start with an apple.  I'm pretty happy with the healthiness of my snack.  I wind up with some peanut butter on that apple.  I'm still doing alright right?  Then...I'm just...scooping peanut butter into my mouth.  It's all gone horribly wrong.

Lodrick is doing an experiment for a class.  We are the subjects.  We are required to do a wall-sit for as long as we can, first while listening to high-tempo music, then slow tempo music.  He refuses to tell us our times.  I refuse to be the weakest one here.

We had Nic and Trey over for chili dogs last night.  We watched Watson absolutely SPANK, Ken and random other guy (they say he's the most moeny-winningeset contestant in jeopardy history but...come on now...Ken Jennings? pffft.)  They had to have known they were gonna get walopped.  I do find it rather hilarious that the category in final Jeopardy was US cities, and the computer answered Toronto.  Even if he was ahead by 30,000.

Trey participated in the wall sit contest.  I figure he could probably just.  lose zero energy and prop himself against a wall for hours.  He did eventually emerge from behind Lodrick's closed door though.  He is human.
 The workspace yesterday.
 Jake's workspace yesterday.
Yeah.  I missed this one apparently....
 Matt's. workspace? yesterday.
Matt and Jake.  They can't help but smile.  Thumbs up.  All the time.

Currently listening: Fee: Hope Rising, and bump bump thud, by: cantankerous punks above us.
