Sword and Trowel

I don't understand why my boys suddenly got all depressed being around their girlfriends.  Come on people.  I am not feeling blue, so you should not.  That is how it works.  I can get you down if I want.  But not the other way around.  Come on fools.

So Matt could not for the life of him identify the Jurassic Park theme.  Oh my goodness.

It's ok.  He is making me sausage and eggs.  Frack yes.

Rob is on an vicious preaching tear man.  So good these last three weeks or so.  I hope it continues to be as awesome (of course it will!) when Kara is up here.

I don't know how much I want to say about the sermon today, but the principle theme was building and protecting.  Having a trowel in one hand, and a sword in the other.  Having a plan to do both.  God is sovereign, so! Plan and act!  Don't not bother to plan and act things because God is sovereign.  Do those things Because! God loves you. not so he will.  (Because he already does.  Not one mite more or less no matter what you do.)  I dunno.  You know.  that's always the message but.  Muy bien today.

There was this awesome new song (new to me at least) called....well I forget.  But it was stinking cool.  and.  I guess that's all I have to say about that.

Look at Matt and Mackenna being an awesome kitchen warrior duo.  How sweet.

I just found out from Matt the library is closed today.  I am so disappointed.  Closed on Sunday, but open on presidents day so people can be lazy for one more day.  This will not do.  I'm going to have to get some earplugs so I can be more effective in my room.

Saturday night!!!!  Game night was pretty fun actually.  It was a decent group of people that worked together to create a pretty tasty conversation stew.  Rich and meaty it was.

We played catchphrase first.  The this game called "Word on the Street" which was actually pretty fun.  You have all of the consonants in the alphabet in a row, and each team gets a minute to think of a word in a given category that has the most consonants on the board in it, moving the letters a tile closer to them for every letter they spell out in the word.  It's like alphabet tug-o-war.  We then played a game called "Smart Ass" (the playing board was a giant donkey...)  a nice variation on movie pieces across a board and answering trivia questions.  Apples to Apples was next, as the crowd and cookies thinned out.  Then the boys (minus Matt Dugan) played super smash bros.  The girls all commented on our faces.  I was very happy to be able to keep up with veteran players like Trey and Aaron.  So many games to bring home.

It is too weird to begin thinking about building a home that is not in the same geographic location as my parents.

My minds starting to move away from the idea of building up my credentials with diplomas, and towards building it up by building up my own good qualities.  Those all important interpersonal skills, confidence, time management, the art of hand shaking...hygiene even.  Real all-purpose transferable skills that will ensure some level of success anywhere in the real world.

I'm super excited for next quarter.  (Perhaps like always) It feels like I am really one quarter away from a real breakthrough.  Next quarter I'm taking intro to law and the judicial process, which is supposed to be a sort've law school try out class when it is with this Paul Chen character (an alleged devout Christian man).  Plus I might begin taking something music related.  It'll feel good. and.  Of course I will once again be resolved to be a master of time management and study skills. (I really am getting better every quarter I feel...somewhat).

Who wants to buy a product marked "Grade B?"  I don't understand.  "yeah...we aren't too sure about those eggs...you poor people can eat them if you though."  Meh.  Lodrick's favorite:  "edible."
