Just because

THIS is probably my favorite song (ever).  At least when it comes to music expressing an emotion.  It figures that this is...just complete emotional annihilation and not absolute joy.  The tenor soloist is pretty breathtaking in this video.  The story is 2 Samuel 18.  verse 33 is the text of the piece.

Kara and Sara are rolling there eyes because I talk about this so frequently...

It's in two parts.  and It's oh...15 minutes long.  "When David Heard." Music by Eric Whitacre, lyrics by...God? God.

part 2 (worth sticking around for! I promise.)

I tried embedding these so the video just showed up on the page.  But that failed miserably for some reason.  Unfortunately I'm not technically enlightened.  So whoever you are.  You'll have to copy and paste these links yourselves since they don't even turn into links.

  1. Currently watching/listening. Whoa, people look a little freaky when they sing in a choiry way like this.

Hey, that must be the tenor there? I have great musical knowledge....

Good golly, this is long! Going to part 2....

Not really my usual style of music or of youtube video, but it sounds cool and certainly looks hard, so I can appreciate that. Can't understand a word they're saying ;).

They sure must be thirsty. I know I am.

  2. They are basically saying my son my son my son over and over again, and sometimes the "when david heard" part. I just watched this this morning and realized how much better the recording I have is. But this one has its own endearing qualities. The tenor is the big guy with long hair. and they are swiss. so that's weird. I think that's what's with their facial expressions.

I'm just amazed they could memorize so much music. and sing it all at once. Impressive for sure. and also they sound good.
